(London.CityRegiions.com, February 06, 2013 ) London, U.K -- Any man who pines for his wife to be more excited in the bedroom should, according to a new study, stay the heck out of the kitchen.
The newest study on relationship dynamics revealed that women are more aroused by the site of a man mowing a law, taking out the trash, or fixing a flat than doing what is more often referred to as “woman's work.”
“Our findings suggest the importance of socialized gender roles for sexual frequency in heterosexual marriage,” said lead author Sabino Kornrich of the Center for Advanced Studies at the Juan March Institute in Madrid.
In other words, a husband that fixes a fence, squashes bugs, and shovels snow is will receive more satisfaction than those who do the grocery shopping, clean the house, or make a dainty dinner.
“Couples in which men participate more in housework typically done by women report having sex less frequently,” Kornrich said. “Similarly, couples in which men participate more in traditionally masculine tasks — such as yard work, paying bills, and auto maintenance — report higher sexual frequency.”
Kornrich warns any man who takes this idea to heart, that one must still consider the fact that a man who does not help out at all, likely will get zero love as well. “Men who refuse to help around the house could increase conflict in their marriage and lower their wives' marital satisfaction,” he said.
Kornich’s study, “Egalitarianism, Housework, and Sexual Frequency in Marriage,” is based on the National Survey of Families and Households and was co-authored with researchers from the University of Washington.
“I’m a liberal but I find comfort in tradition,” Richard DiStefano, a 70-year-old retired electrician, said. “I think keeping those traditional roles leads to a better love life.”
