(London.CityRegions.com, August 16, 2013 ) London, Islington -- ThermoMorph launch amazingly versatile new moldable plastic.
ThermoMorph is a brand new startup company founded by Eddy & David Barrett, two young brothers from the United Kingdom. Having had previous experience setting up and running companies within the UK the two entrepreneurs from London wanted to take on a new challenge by expanding into new territories in both geographical and product marketplaces.
Launching with their flagship moldable thermoplastic pellets under the brand name ThermoMorph the pair are very excited to see how the market responds to this interesting new product.
ThermoMorph moldable plastic is actually a unique polymer called polycaprolactone (PCL). Sold in small white pellet form in tubs weighing 500g (17.8 Ounces) which the company states is enough for multiple projects, the material is useful in many different applications.
To use, simply heat the pellets to around 60°C and they go clear and stick together, the resulting rubbery lump is then pliable for several minutes allowing you to shape or mold it in any way you choose. Heating the pellets is surprisingly easy, simply boil a kettle of water, pour some into a glass bowl or other suitable container and then pour in the required amount of pellets for use. Wait for around 2 minutes until the ThermoMorph pellets have gone clear and you know they are ready for use. If you find it wasn't enough for the job, don't worry you can simply reheat the water and add more.
Whilst used widely in industrial uses, generally the product has been very difficult for end consumers to purchase. For this reason, the product is expected to be very popular in the DIY and hobbyist communities. It can be used to make custom pieces to hack new products or fix broken ones. It's also very highly regarded for it's ability to be used over and over, perfect for making prototypes without wasting materials.
Other uses for the product are extensive and Eddy Barrett the company founder added this "we've heard of ThermoMorph plastic pellets being used to make temporary splints and casts in developing countries, which we think is an amazing application of such a versatile material."
Whilst being useful in multitude of scenarios the product is also very affordable, retailing at just $25 per 17.8 ounces. As mentioned before, the company states is enough for dozens of smaller projects.
The product has initially launched exclusively on the Amazon platform both in the UK & USA but the pair are keen to get the product into craft, DIY & hobby stores. "We're really proud of the work that we've done to create a useful and unique product and we feel that this could have a broad mass market appeal. It would be amazing to get it into retail stores and we feel with our branding and the quality of the product this could be a real possibility for us in the near future."
