(London.CityRegiions.com, November 13, 2012 ) Birmingham, U.K -- The press conference for the cast of the final Twilight movie, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2,” brought to light some of the sentiments of the stars who made the series so popular around the world for the past decade.
While the stars including Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson answered questions, it was clear that the feelings surrounding the end of filming were not shared. While Stewart and Lautner had a lighter tone while expressing their feelings, Pattinson echoed built up frustration from his role in the journey.
Pattinson said that he was actually happy at the ending of the series because it would mean the ending of his role as Edward. The role was one that he struggled with due to the aura of his character. Edward was portrayed as a flawless entity, and Pattinson said that he was very frustrated by the idea of such a character. He noted that type of character has little to no real meaning. Pattinson said he was “insanely frustrated” because he felt as though his role was not as deep as the others and to him it was just a role, not a way of life, like many actors often say.
While Pattinson was in a frustrated mood, Stewart said she was happy to finally get the chance to play the role of a vampire in the last movie. Stewart conveyed that while her colleagues had all previously gotten to play such a role, this was the first time she would have the opportunity to expand her acting. She also admitted that her excitement lead to her breaking her thumb, played within the first two days of filming.
Stewart also admitted to reporters that she had taken the famous rings she had worn as her character Bella, including the notorious engagement ring. Stewart said she kept them because of their importance to her and that the moon ring reminds her of Catherine Hardwicke, the Twilight director.
The engagement ring was described in the Twilight books as a beautiful gold ring that made a “glittering web around the diamonds,” and was a recognizable item from the series. The ring is not one-of-a-kind however, as it can be replicated for anyone willing to shell out around $2,000.
When asked about any keepsakes he had taken, Lautner said he didn’t keep anything, but said he wishes he had kept the famous wig he had worn throughout the series. According to Lautner, he had a chance to keep the wig, but instead told crew members “No! Get that away from me.” Lautner added that he had told the crew to burn the wig because he had been so sick of wearing it over the past several years. He regretfully told reporters, “Now looking back on it, I'm like, 'Man, I should have kept that thing.'”
