(London.CityRegions.com, September 07, 2013 ) Hertfordshire, UK -- The internet has grown rapidly since its inception in 1969. There have been so many first and ground-breaking advancements that it can be difficult to keep them all in line. That is why Evevo created an infographic to help create a timeline of milestones in the history of the internet.
According to Evevo's infographic, the Department of Defense in the United States started the internet has an experiment in 1969. There it was a closed-circuit information sharing project and was not even known as the “internet” until 13 years later, in 1982.
Another decade past until the first website World Wide Web software by Cern was released in 1991. The very first browser did not find the light of day until 1993.
The first e-mail was sent way back toward the creation of the internet, when Ray Tomilson sent himself a message. "The test messages were entirely forgettable. Most likely the first message was QWERTYUIOP xor something similar," he said.
Now the internet is used for almost everything imaginable, including general information, purchasing of goods, and personal-to-person interaction. The first Ebay Item was sold in 1995, when a broken laser pointer was purchased for nearly $15. The first Wikipedia edit was “Hello World”, but the longest lasting Wikipedia edit came in 2001, when the list of countries were added to the data pool.
As much as many would like to never think about advertisements on the internet, the first Banner Ad came across a screen in 1994 to promote art museums. The ads were originally sponsored by AT&T.
The internet communication levels have reached proportions likely not considered possible before. Video and now phones can even connect regularly to the internet. YouTube was given its first video in 2005 when Jawad Karim (co-founder) posted footage from the San Diego Zoo. The first mobile phone that connected to the internet was Nokia 9000 Communicator.
Evevo understands and appreciates the history of the project that makes its endeavor possible, as they look to create quality marketing services for all clients. Evevo looks to keep its clients a step ahead of the curve when it comes to successful SEO and marketing objectives.
