download MaxxiFlex Plus premium dog joint supplement contains Tumeric (London.CityRegions.com, June 12, 2014 ) Newbury, West Berkshire -- Turmeric has anti-inflammatory effects and is a powerful antioxidant. Using turmeric for treating various illnesses is nothing new; it has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
New study (published march 2014) compared the effects of ibuprofen and turmeric in 367 patients with knee osteoarthritis. The patients were randomly assigned either curcuma domestica (the Latin name for turmeric) or ibuprofen.
All the patients had a pain score of five or higher at the start of the trial, meaning they were experiencing moderate pain but bad enough to interfere with their daily tasks and even concentration. The study measured pain, stiffness, function and total scores over 4-week period.
The conclusion of the study was clear; turmeric is as effective as ibuprofen for the treatment of osteoarthritis. The side effect profile was similar but there were fewer gastrointestinal adverse events reported in the turmeric group (i.e. abdominal pain or discomfort, was significantly higher in the group that received ibuprofen).
Other studies have shown great results of using turmeric to treat rheumatoid arthritis in humans. These results have encouraged people to use turmeric as natural joint pain relief. Not only for themselves, but also for their pets. Mammal joints work the same after all.
Dr. Shawn Messonnier DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) says in his book The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats that turmeric has been found to have anti-inflammatory effects in arthritic pets comparable to the NSAID drug Phenylbutazone. Despite the strong scientific support for turmeric efficiency as joint pain relief, there are not many dog joint supplements available that contain turmeric.
Birgir Gislason, the CEO of MaxxiDog says, "These latest studies have increased the general awareness of the health benefits of turmeric for both humans and their pets. People are now using turmeric to treat various diseases, including joint pain. And not only for themselves, many have been giving their pets turmeric as well".
Birgir adds, "Dog owners have been adding turmeric directly to their dog's diet. However, most are unsure how much is safe to give their dogs and how best to administer it. Most dog owners therefore prefer to use supplements, and this is why our dog joint supplement, MaxxiFlex Plus contains turmeric, as well as other effective dog joint ingredients, like Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, Bromelain and Devil's Claw".
Turmeric is a natural and safe pain relief for dogs in the right dosage. It may though interfere with other medication (VET advice recommended in those cases) and should not be used during pregnancy.
