It can be very tempting to roll over and turn off the alarm when it's cold, dark and wet outside.
By copying one or two of these tips they will help break through negativity and refocus the mind on achievement of training goals :-
• Write down training goals and put them next to the alarm clock . Make sure they are large enough and bright enough to be visible on waking in the morning.

With the right attitude and training who knows what can be achieved but there is no getting round the fact that "Get out there and Train" needs to be the mindset to achieve goals even if it's wet, cold and windy.
• Start small and keep increasing the goals and targets. Like the rules of compound interest, regular training like regular saving can give great compound results. Get some training plans from the internet. Planning regular training sessions and making incremental improvements will give impressive results.
• Have the right equipment for whatever sport or skill is being targeted – running, triathlon, athletics, cycling. Be prepared. In the cold weather cover as much exposed skin as possible. Wearing cold weather running gloves and a hat or headband or earmuffs are vital. Make sure the correct footwear is worn appropriate to the training being done. Stay safe and stay warm. Training performance will be impaired if core body temperature drops with the cold weather.
• Chart progress, go for mini goals. Reward any incremental success. Keep training fun.
