(London.CityRegions.com, May 02, 2015 ) London, UK -- Apple aficionados could be in for a surprise when Apple launch their new version of the iPhone this fall. Following the success of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus many were expecting the new version to be the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. However, there are strong suggestions in the air that the new model will be a brand new iPhone 7, breaking the previous Apple release pattern.
Current speculation suggests that the new phone will be launched this autumn, possibly during September.
While an upgrade to the iPhone 6S would mean the phone retains the same chassis as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the rumoured launch of the iPhone7 would suggest more radical technical innovations.
One improvement currently being mooted for the proposed iPhone 7 is a Force Touch display. The Force Touch Display is currently in use with the Apple Watch and the new MacBook. However, experts are insisting that with the proposed iPhone 7 it will offer an additional improvement; the ability to detect the contact area of the finger to determine if the screen is being tapped or pressed.
Further speculation about the iPhone 7 is related to the model's design. The rumour mill has it that the iPhone 7 will have a 4.7in screen display and an iPhone 7 Plus (should Apple launch one) a 5.5in – the same sizes as their iPhone 6 equivalents.
Other similarities with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with the iPhone 7 are rumoured to be the rounded aluminium chassis. While it is suggested that the new phone will be very slim it could be lighter still thanks to the use of more durable liquid-metal materials and also stronger thanks to sapphire glass.
Not all claims support a 2015 iPhone 7 however. There are claims that a new iPhone 6S design would include a hydrophobic coating combined with electromagnetic interference shield to protect the phone's internal components should it be accidentally come in contact with water.
Whether the new phone is to be the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 the prospect is still exciting. A huge amount of interest is levied by the now $10bn Apple accessory industry.
George Balfour-Kinnear of Boom Products, which produces the best-selling Shock-2 Hybrid Protection Case for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus said: "The new launch, iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 is an enthralling prospect. In some ways moving to a new model would make sense given how fast the industry is currently moving and with the competition heating up with solid Samsung S6 and S6 edge offerings. However Apple have never been ones to rush anything to market so I am still unconvinced. Of course we will take the opportunity to provide the best case for whatever move Apple make".
There have also been rumours about the likely colours of the next iPhones, whichever branding they may hold. Silver, gold, and space grey with a fourth option, rose gold, being a longshot.
