(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 15, 2016 ) Oxford, Oxfordshire -- Some are aware of the absorbing but very tempestuous nature of starting a business. The enthusiasm will be there at the start but that drive and motivation can start to dwindle when (not if) those seemingly insurmountable obstacles appear.
Andy Kidd, owner of A Kidd's Choice, a children's product company that sells products on Amazon, knows all too well those challenges that can arise. Having started up his business in June 2015, the first year has been a constant battle against the tide – especially when negotiating the exciting but vast platform that is Amazon.
Andy is sole owner of his Amazon business. His current products on the market are a waterproof crib mattress pad on Amazon US market and a bath thermometer in Amazon UK. Sales have started to grow steadily but there has still been a financial loss as the first year comes to a close. The business is still not making enough to become sustainable.
However, despite the evidence in front of him, Kidd still sees massive success for his business in the future.
He says "That first year can be tough – especially if you are hearing about other colleagues who are doing so well and seemingly finding it easy to make huge sums of money. The automatic question comes up in your mind "What's wrong with me? If they can do it, why can't I?" You just have to be inspired about their achievements and know that those achievements can be yours as well. Once more, you will only initially hear about these people's successes. The truth is they probably went through the exact same difficult path that you or I go through – they just got through it.
So through these tough times, what drives him on?
"Persistence" he says "I've learnt to look at the doubt and fear in my mind and know that all of that is just useless to getting where I want to go. Truth is my business is still struggling but I know that I will succeed. However, at the same time, changing and adapting to the environment as well as keeping the customer delighted, are all important to getting there"
"I also surround myself and talk to people who will inspire and encourage me to keep on going. People who have succeeded at what I do and are willing to help. There can be those friends who have your best interests at heart but might have their own fears about what you are going through and might try to offload that doubt onto you. There are going to be friends like these and that's completely fine. You just have to make sure you are taking advice from the right people that will push you to keep on going."
So where does Andy see his business in a couple of years? "Well, having products that are best sellers in their categories in Amazon. To have established my brands on other online platforms. I have also financial goals. I also would like to open my product to retails stores."
